NHS England (Wessex) confirmed that they had been served 12 months’ notice on the consultant-led orthodontic service delivered by University Hospital Southampton (UHS). The notice will take effect at the end of January 2019. In the meantime, and as has been the case for the last year, NHS England continues to support the delivery of the orthodontic service at UHS and will seek to procure a replacement orthodontic service to take over and start ideally by the end of 2018. Stakeholders will be kept informed and engaged as part of the procurement. NHS England (Wessex) recognises how critical it is to keep this service located within Southampton City to maintain good access for patients and referring practitioners.
